IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maurice Dontate
Upshaw, Sr.
November 27, 1979 – February 27, 2025
Maurice Dontate Upshaw was born on 11/27/1979 to Beatrice Upshaw and Robert Bradford in Cincinnati Ohio. He was the eldest of two children. He took his big brother responsibility seriously, always protecting his younger sister.
Maurice had a heart of gold, and a keen smile. He would smile, hit you with that gold and light up a room. He also loved to dress nice, you could count on him to send you a selfie of his latest purchase – jewelry and clothing. He was educated in Cincinnati Public Schools and in Orange County Public Schools (Orlando, Florida). After completing school, Maurice worked several jobs. He also enrolled in online courses to further his education.
Maurice grew up in the Westwood and Fairmount Communities. Growing up, you could always find him on the weekends at his grandparents' house, on his grandfather's heels. If you saw granddaddy, Maurice was definitely nearby. Maurice was in chill mode, he stayed to himself and took care of his business. He didn't like foolishness and would quickly distance himself if he didn't like the vibe. He accepted Christ into his heart and was baptized in 2003. He faithfully attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Maurice married Amanda Bayless in July 2006, to this union two children were born. He loved all three of his children. He was very proud of them and their accomplishments. Often sharing the latest updates on what they were doing.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Beatrice Upshaw, Robert Bradford, Sister, Lasharie Upshaw, bonus sisters Diamond and Fay Bradford. His children: Jacoya, Maurice Jr. and Lillie Upshaw, three grandchildren: Kynzei, Karter and Skyla. Aunt - Donna Bradford, Uncle - Edward Bradford, one niece, one nephew, one great nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.
My son, may the father of ALL welcome you into his kingdom with open arms. The times we shared are always set in my heart with grand memories. Until we meet again. Love always, Dad
