Obituary

Mattie Luckett was born May 28, 1938 to Palmer Gibbs (Clarence Luckett) and Carrie Clinton (Stuckey) in Bentonia, Mississippi. She passed peacefully on February 7, 2017. Mattie was preceded in death by her father, Palmer Gibbs in 1981 and her Mother Carrie Clinton in 1997. She graduated from Harris High School in Meridan, Mississippi in 1958 and received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts in 1960. She relocated to Cincinnati in 1964. Mattie had a strong sense of faith and inspired everyone she came in contact with. She battled with illness for 16 long years and it was her faith in God and people that saw her through. The word "inspiration" was used the most in describing her. She touched everyone, always had a kind word and something positive to say. She was a sharp dresser and created a long list of friends and family. She will be greatly missed. Her faith was so strong that a priest actually performed a sermon that she inspired him to do. Mattie leaves behind a legacy of love and family. For her, love of family was very important and strong. She is survived by her daughter Laura Luckett, Grandsons, Damont (Jasmine Hinton) Luckett and Matthew (Latonia) Luckett, son Vernon Fitch, daughters, Mimi Montgomery and Holly Ammann, Aunt Frankie Logan, and great family friend Cathy Schneider, Grandchildren, Cristin (Greg) Buehler, Erin (Brad) Koewler, Keith, Megan, Vince and Jessie Fitch. Special long time friend Louise Hensley and 14 Great-Grandchildren as well as a host of friends, family and special people that she adopted along the way. Mom will be greatly missed by many. I love you Mom amd hope that you are enjoying your family in heaven.
