Obituary

Matthew T. Jackson, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on September 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Matthew was born at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Brenda Jean Jackson and Booker T. Jackson. He grew up attending Mt. Zion with his family and later joined New Life Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age. Matthew attended North College Hill High School, where he was active in football and wrestling.

A man of deep faith, Matthew loved reading his Bible and living as a true man of God. After high school, he began working at Meyer Tool before pursuing Bible College to strengthen his walk with the Lord. During that time, he became a youth pastor, married, and welcomed his first daughter, Reagan Jackson, with his then-wife, Beth Jackson. Though their paths later went separate ways, they remained dedicated co-parents to Reagan.

Matthew later became a commercial truck driver, a career he truly enjoyed for the experiences, travels, and sights it allowed him to capture through his love of photography. During this time, he was blessed with his second daughter, Mahalia Jackson. Matthew lived for his daughters—his pride, joy, and greatest treasures. He was a devoted father who never failed to be present in their daily lives, activities, and learning.

Matthew was known for his loving, generous, kind, funny, and hardworking spirit. He cherished music, art, fishing, video games, being outdoors, and watching football. Family was always at the center of his heart—he cared deeply for his younger brother, Adam Jackson, and sister, Maripauline Jackson, and always looked after the well-being of his friends and loved ones.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth L. Akemon. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Reagan Jackson and Mahalia Jackson; his parents, Brenda J. Jackson and Booker T. Jackson; his brother, Adam N. Jackson (Brandis); his sister, Maripauline R. Jackson (Carter);  his nephew, Jeremiah T. Jackson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Matthew's legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion to his family will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
