The blessed soul of Mathree "Doll Baby," "Paper Doll," Fuller Whittle was born to Robert and Mazie (Thomas) Fuller on March 3, 1927 in Camden, Alabama. She attended the Camden Academy or better known as the Little House School. At the age of 14, she left Alabama because she yearned for a different life, away from plowing cotton and vegetables on the family farm. Mathree left for Mobile, Alabama, saved her money by shrimping and doing domestic work in an effort to come to Cincinnati, Ohio. "Paper Doll" eventually found love with Roscoe Whittle, whose family was also from Alabama. They married on February 10, 1945. To their blessed union was born 3 sons, Larry, Harold and Leonard. Once settled in Cincinnati she began working at General Hospital in dietary and retired after 20 years of service. She then began working for US Post Office and retired after 43 years. She made New Hope Missionary Baptist Church her church home under Rev. Stephens. She served the Lord and her church family by ushering, often being on the kitchen committee and singing in the mass choir for over 50 years. She had many hobbies and interests. Mathree was an avid traveler, especially with her bridge association. Along with playing bridge she was a seamstress, cook, gardener, decorator and antique collector. One interest that everyone knew about was her love for dogs, especially, Chihuahuas and German Shepherds. Mathree was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Whittle, eldest son, Larry Whittle and youngest son, Leonard Whittle; sisters, Easter Rene Frederick, Rosa Lee Yarbrough, and Jesse Nell Cherry. Mathree leaves to mourn her son, Harold (Robin) Whittle; sisters, Azilee Mathes, Lutiea Wilks, Lucille Johnson, Lucinda Reid, and Willa Mae Fuller; grandchildren, Tonya Cooper, Camille Wright, Nishala Whittle, Javonne Whittle, Larry Smith, Keith Smith, Lindsay Whittle, Julian Whittle; and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3655 Harvey Avenue, Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
