Mrs. Mary Louise (Watson) Thornton was born December 28, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Milton Thomas Watson and Geraldine (Render) Watson. Mary attended school in the Cincinnati Public School system. After leaving school, Mary entered into the work field. She enjoyed working at Holmes Hospital in the Dietary Department. When her job was abolished, Mary went to the U.C. Hospital to continue her employment. She retired from U.C. Hospital after 28 years of service. Mary was very talented, she was an artist, seamstress, and a very excellent cook. Mary was a lifelong member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church. She also was a member of the choir. Mary loved R&B, jazz, and gospel music. She shared her love of music with her children. Mary's son, Milton (Corky) enjoyed taking her to her favorite stores, Wal-Mart and Krogers, and he would also help her put away her groceries. Geraldine, Mary's daughter, would sometime go bus riding. Geraldine loved going with her and they would always end up going shopping for something. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Thomas Walton and Geraldine (Render) Watson; sister, Geraldine Watson; brother, (Billy) William Leon Watson; daughter, Ronna Yvonne Watson I; husband, Robert W. Thornton Mary Louise Watson Thornton leaves precious memories to be cherished: her loving and very devoted children, Geraldine A. Thornton (Raymond Riley Jr.), Milton D. Thornton; grandchildren, Desmond Thornton, Pamela Haywood, Qiana Brown, Jykeith Thornton, Shaureene Thomas, Shaunda Watson; thirteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, Her first cousin, Carolyn W. Brown, sisters-in-law, Doris Thornton and Hettie Jackson; a very devoted friend, Cora Colvin (Bread Puttin), the name they called other, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
