IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Frances
Thompson
June 14, 1941 – May 1, 2016
Mary F. Thompson was the youngest and longest living of five children born to the union of Ernest Jones Thompson & Lillie Clara (Rogers) on June 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, OH. She gave her life to Christ and joined New Life Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where she served faithfully on the usher board until her declining state of health no longer permitted it. Frances transitioned from her earthly tabernacle to her heavenly one on Sunday, May 1, 2016. She sweetly answered the Master's call at 2:47 a.m. " Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." (Psalm 116:15) Known as "Frances", to many of her family and friends, she attended North College Hill High School and served in many occupational capacities. However it was her last service that kept her young and happy. Her enduring love of children (and them of her) manifested in the establishment of a bustling daycare business. She delighted in the daily walks she insisted on for the children, often stopping to pick up the newspaper that she dutifully read. Frances treasured and enjoyed her family and simultaneously loved the Lord. She loved to cook (especially on Sunday) for her daughter Kim and was widely known for her macaroni, her ribs, and her sweet potato pie. She enjoyed doing Word Puzzles, shopping and watching Steve Harvey. An avid sports fan, she rarely missed a showing on television of her favorite basketball team, the Lakers, or her Bengals and Reds. But her favorite ball player was her grandson, Jeffery, and she could sometimes be happily found in the stadium of Miami University, watching his games. She was totally besotted with, and madly loved her granddaughter Cassie, who was more like a best friend than granddaughter. She so looked forward to her weekly shopping trips with Kim and cherished the relentless, loving companionship she provided. And she loved telling her son Jeff, Sr. how to go about developing property and building on it! Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Lillie Clare, brothers Walter & Norman, and sisters Delores and Ernestine. She is loved by many friends, family and those whom she touched. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Jeffery Thompson Sr. of Columbus, OH, daughter Kim Thompson of Cincinnati, two grandchildren, Jeffery Thompson Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Cassandra Thompson of Washington, D.C, Sandra Sydnor (formerly Thompson) of West Lafayette, IN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, two uncles, Fred (Christine) Murray of Cincinnati, and James (Minnie) Murray of Cincinnati, Aunt Warlean Smith of Cincinnati, close friend & cousin, Edna Whitney of Atlanta, GA & special friend, Earl Wofford. We will miss her terribly, but are comforted by the thought that one great day, we shall celebrate with her on the other side! Visitation is from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the New Life Baptist Church, 6434 Simpson Avenue, Cincinnati (45224).
