Mrs. Mary Lou Rich-Underwood, age 88 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Bulloch County but resided in Cincinnati, OH, Connecticut and New York for many years before returning to Ohio. Being a Godly woman she was always affiliated with a place of worship. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church as a youngster, later joining Holy Trinity Baptist church and Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter Janet, grandchildren, James Sutherland, wife Raquel, Columbus, OH, Jandia Sutherland, Trotwood, OH and Ronald Sutherland, Dayton, OH; five great grandchildren, Olivia Walker, Christopher Sutherland, Emmanuel Stewart, Julian Underwood and Mila Underwood; three sisters, Leomie Rich, Armetta Rich and Ruth Rich and one brother Robert Rich all of Statesboro and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Underwood will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at the Harmony Missionary Baptist Church with the pastor Rev. Troy Grubbs, eulogist. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12 noon. A Funeral Service will be conducted in Statesboro, Georgia on August 7, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. from the Harmony Baptist Church, 98 Harmony Church Road, Statesboro, Georgia 30458. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, 98 Harmony Church Road, Statesboro, Georgia 30458.
