Obituary

Ms. Mary Frances Dumas was born on May 30, 1932 in Wellington, Virginia to JB Heard and Louise Gilmore.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Upon moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, she united with Missionary Holiness Church and later established her membership with Bright Star Baptist Church 1985.

She met and married Charles F. Dumas in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In her early years, Ms. Dumas worked for General Hospital as a Nurse in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ms. Dumas was renowned for her cooking, baking, and her homemade ice cream.

She departed this life on Saturday, July 28, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents (JB Heard and Louise Gilmore), husband (Charles F. Dumas), and three daughters (Debra Clifton, Charlie Mae Alexander and Naomi Dumas).

She leaves to cherish her memories: five sons, Wilber JR Clifton (Cindy Clifton), Derwin Clifton, Charles F. Dumas Jr, Tyrone Dumas, and Alfonzo Dumas (Rhonda Dumas); four daughters: Frances E. Clifton, Arena Doty, Rachelle Burgess (Noris Burgess), and Helenlamor Lewis (Basil Lewis); forty-four grandchildren; seventy-five great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A letter to my children

Dear sweet children, I love you so much and I will truly miss each one of you. To my eldest son Wilbert, you are my first-born son and I love you so much. You are the head of the family now and I entrust in you to be there for your siblings and be the leader that God has called you to be. Please continue to be the peace maker that you are and continue to keep the family together.

To my beloved daughter Libby, you are truly a blessing from the Lord, you gave up your life to take care of me when I could no longer do for myself. Please don't cry anymore daughter because I am resting in the arms of the Lord and I am no longer suffering. Please take time out for yourself and live. Enjoy your life and do the things that you always wanted to do. Live your life to the fullest but remember to always keep God first. I love you so much daughter.

To my son Derwin, you are my second eldest son and I love you so much. I will truly miss you. Please continue to be strong and be there for your brothers and sisters. You are so dear to my heart and I thank you for the man that you are. I love you son.

To my beloved daughter Arena, I am so proud of you. You have had some challenges in your life and overcame many obstacles that came across your path. Daughter, please continue to strive for your dreams and know that I will always love you.

To my beloved daughter Shell, I will miss your beautiful smile and the conversations that we shared.  I will also miss you stroking my head and telling me that you love me. Please continue to seek after the Lord and be the strong woman that you are.  I love you so much daughter.

To my son Charles, you have a calling on your life and the power in you to be an excellent leader. My dear son, please try hard to tap into it and pick up your cross and follow God. I want the best for you and I will always love you.

To my son Tyrone, my bundle of joy. You have always been there for me and I will always love you. I know that my passing was hard on you but I need for you to be strong and know that I am in good hands now. Please continue to laugh, smile, and enjoy your life and most of all, please strive hard to seek after the Lord and get to know him for yourself.

To my youngest son Alfonzo, my dear sweet son. I thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to take me to my doctor and hair appointments. You don't know how much that touch my heart. I am so proud of you for the man that you have become. Please continue to follow the Lord and lead your family to Christ. I love you my dear sweet child.

To my youngest daughter Helen, I told you so many times how proud I am of you. I always told you that you can be anything in life that you wanted to be if you worked hard at it. I thank you my dear daughter for the flowers that you gave me and my beautiful birthday celebrations. Please continue to chase after the Lord and remember that we will see each other again. I love you so much.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Abundant Life Apostolic Church, 9545 Winton Road, Cincinnati  (45231).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
