Obituary

Mary Margaret Gentry, age 93, passed away on August 1, 2013. Friends may call Saturday, August 10 at 12:00 noon until time of service 1:00 p.m. at First Antioch Baptist Church, 1511 Gilpin Ave, 45206. Interment Spring Grove Cemetery. Mary Margaret Gentry affectionately known to many as "Ganna" was born on August 9, 1919 in Peytontown, Kentucky to the late Lovell & Willie B. Gentry. Mary was the fourth child out of twelve children. On August 1, 2013 at the age of 93 years old, she went home to be with God. Mary accepted Christ at an early age first at Peytontown Baptist Church and later moved to Cincinnati Ohio, and joined First Antioch Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her sickness and could no longer attend. Mary was very active in church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunshine Band Assistant, served on the Usher Board, helping with church plays and meal preparation for church activities. Mary also worked with the Walnut Hills High School Band and Drill team as a team mom; often she weathered various climate changes, rain, sleet, snow to help keep the girls on the drill team on track. Mary worked as a housekeeper for the family of Dr. & Mrs. Jules Klein; working for over 50 plus years in their family. Whatever Mary did she was faithful and dedicated in her services. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Lovell and Willie B. Willis, daughter Helen Harris (Paul Sr.), Son Douglas Ramey, Grandson Virgil Harris, three sisters Ophelia, Roberta and Sophia, four brothers John, Hazel, Booker T. and Robert. Mary leaves to cherish her memory a sister Loretta Willis, two brothers Edward Leon Fife and Henry (Rose) Gentry Sr., two daughters Brenda (Charles) Nelson, Marie (Bobby) Hill, Eight grandchildren Paul (Jackie) Harris, Chae (Chimene) Harris Sr., Vermonia Harris, Tammy (Bobby) Griffin, Tyra Smith, Kenneth Smith Jr., Mariah Owens and Marcus Owens, twenty two great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and she was patiently waiting for another great-great grandson due in September (Major), and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mary also leaves to cherish her memory a granddaughter whom she named and helped raise since birth, Tammy (Bobby) Griffin. Mary and Tammy had a very close relationship and a deep love of each other. She also leaves to cherish her memory a special niece and nephew, Pam and Adumn to whom she enjoyed bible reading, the Lord's Supper and having intense bible discussions about the goodness of the Lord.
