Mary Josephine 'Mary Jo' Harris, age 77, passed away on March 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Willetta Carter; brothers, Patrick, Charles, and James Carter; sister, Linda Kleinjohn and ex-husband, Charles Harris Sr. She is survived by her children; Charles (Teresa) Harris Jr, Vincent (Denise) Harris, and Veronica Sowards; grandchildren: Charles (Mikhayla) Harris, III, Heather (Rick) Ritter, Eric Harris and fiancé Rachel Shepard, Cassandra Harris and fiancé Travis McClain, Quinton (Rocio) Harris, Emily Harris, Benjamin Harris, Duane Sowards, Jr., and Delaney Sowards; great-grandchildren, Leland Harris, Gavin Harris, Blaine Harris, and Zoey Harris; her sister Betsy Long and nieces and nephews and friends.
Known for her work ethic, Mary Jo retired from Kahn's and The Kroger Company.
Mary Jo played softball, enjoyed music from her youth, especially Elvis, and was an avid reader. She really loved spending time with her family and friends, she was always the life of the party and loved making people laugh. Mary Jo was always willing to help her loved ones and was very passionate about her grandchildren and their interests.
Originally, from Batavia, Ohio, Mary Jo has also resided in Cincinnati Ohio, Oakland, California, and Jacksonville, Florida. In California, she became a rooky in roller derby.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10 am at Walker Funeral Home-Mt Healthy Chapel, 7272 Hamilton Ave, Mt Healthy, OH 45231. Memorial service will follow from 10:30-11:30 am.
The family wishes for memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society as an expression of sympathy for the loved ones of Mary Jo lost to cancer, instead of flowers.
In keeping with CDC Covid19 Guidelines, we encourage those who are not fully vaccinated to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
