Marvin Eric Young, Sr., 76, was born on August 13, 1949, in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Clyde Cohen and Maggie Virginia Young. On April 16, 2026, Mr. Marvin Eric Young, Sr. departed this life and gained his wings to be with the Lord.

Affectionally known as “Fats” to family and friends, Marvin attended the historically all-black high school South French Broad in Asheville, NC. Soon after, he joined a musical band, Inner Soul, as the lead drummer. He was the pulse of the band. Marvin loved music and getting “super fly”, putting on his nice clothes, and driving around town to visit family. He was a “house doctor” who could do anything to a home that needed work. He was also an expert painter. He took pride and all sincerity in his work.

Marvin was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Virginia Young; father, Clyde Cohen; sister, Karen Young; and brother, Cecil Young.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Marin Eric Tayor (Latonya); two daughters, Rosemary Cuellar and Juanita Ellery; long-time girlfriend, Wanda Darby; as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

We thank God for the joy and love Marvin brought to each one of our lives. Rest in Heaven, Pops.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be laid to rest at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
