IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marva
Jones
October 11, 1939 – June 10, 2023
Marva Jones October 11, 1939 - June 10, 2023
Marva was a mom who seemed to have all the answers. We enjoyed listening to her explain the answers to all the questions we would ask her daily. Of course, children believe their moms know everything. Mom was our information technology, way before computers were on the scene. Her words will continually be in our thoughts and in our hearts. She passed on to us the gift to read and understand knowledge for ourselves.
Marva passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born on October 11, 1939, to Gladys Thompson and Wesley Talley, raised by Washington and Florence Woods. Marva had 6 siblings, 4 of whom preceded her in death: Wesley, Gary, Irvin and Daryl. Marva was very athletic in sports, in her youth, even up to her teenage years when she was a member of the basketball team for Western High School, where she received her Diploma of graduation. Marva grew up with her childhood sweetheart Cleveland A Jones Jr, (preceded in death) and they united in marriage on January 8, 1960. To their union were born 5 children. Marva took pride in raising her children, and being a wife, and she also worked as a Bank Teller for a short period of time. Marva was a people person and enjoyed great conversations with anyone she encountered. She often enjoyed game night with family, Monopoly was a favorite of hers. Marva's hobbies were Crossword Puzzles and sewing. Marva had a vast knowledge of movies, actors, and musical artists.
Marva was a Christian and joined the Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church in her later years and would attend and enjoy services regularly.
Marva is survived by two sisters, Cherryl Barnes, Darlene Byrd, Tanya Crowder (1/2 sibling), five children Cherryll Hill, Lois Anderson, Cleveland A Jones III, Alice Mays (Dwayne Crawford), Cory Jones (Marie McLenaghan), eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family.
