Obituary

Marion Elizabeth (Johnson) Fountain was born August 15, 1937, in Lexington, Kentucky. She is the daughter of the late Ethel Mae and Mack Daniel Laine and Clarence Jackson.

She was married to George W. Fountain, I. They were blessed with eight children, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her parents, son number three Henry, grandson, David William Fountain, II, twin great-grandsons Carson and Carter and her brother Clifford Jackson proceeded her (Momma would introduce her children according to their number at birth -smile).

Through the course of her life, Mrs Fountain was involved in many different groups and organizations in and outside of her community. She was an active member of New Mission Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years; Past President of the Missionary Society; coordinator for the S.H.A.R.E. Program which provides food at a low cost for the community and also the Co-op Program at Gaines United Methodist Church. She was a member or in a leadership role for the following:  member of the P.T.A.  at 5 different schools; Girl Scout Leader and organizer; Cub Scout Assistant and Den Mother; served as Worthy Matron for Wesley Smith Chapter No. 90, Order of the Eastern Star -PHA and has been an active member for more than 50 years; former Mother Advisor and served as Associate Mother Advisor of Wilma Williams Girls Assembly No. 15; member of Cyrene Guild #1 and served as Princess Captain; Past Grand Deputy Lecture of the South and Past Grand Lecture for David V. Moore Grand Guild; Past Most Ancient Matron for Prince White Court #1, Heroine of Jericho; member of the Ladies of the Circle of Perfection, Eyes of Wisdom Court #3 served as its first Royal Perfect Matron; Madisonville Coordinating Committee; Madisonville Community Council; Madisonville Christian Service Council; has been a long time member of the Progressive Senior Club that supports the Annual Lucille Chennault Ball;" Chairperson of the nomination committee Senior Club for the year 2004; organized the first group from Madisonville Senior Citizens to go the "Lucille Chennault Senior / Disability Ball in 2004." She also worked at the polls during various elections and loved to play cards.

Mrs Fountain was a very loving and caring family member and friend.  Of all the things that she was involved in, her family and friends were always amazed at the amount of time she manages to spend and care for her Special Needs daughter, Esther.
