August 25, 1935 – June 10, 2020
Marilyn Francis Ottopal (nee Maier), age 84, went to be with her Lord on June 10, 2020, after a long illness. Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Edward Ottopal. Marilyn was born on August 25, 1935, and spent her life living in Cincinnati. Almost her entire married life was spent living in the home Ed built for their family in Blue Ash.
She is the daughter of the late Edward and Olivette Maier.
She is survived by her sister: Sue (Jack) Martin; her five children: Carol (John) Wenstrup, Tom, Glenn, Marian (Dave deceased) Swafford, and Karen (Patrick) Eborall; her nine grandchildren: Jesy (George), Kathy (Dave), David (Carrie), Mathew (Jami), Brian, Jeremy, Anna Leah, Athena, and Carter; her six great-grandchildren: Nick, Molly, Mason, Abbey, Jack, and Easton; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marilyn attended Regina High School where she made lifelong friendships. Until recently, she met regularly with her club which comprised of friendships spanning decades of her life. She was actively involved in her parish at All Saints Catholic Church and the Blue Ash Woman's Club.
She loved to bake and used that skill to help raise money for both the Church and the Club. In addition to baking, she loved large family gatherings, fishing, spending the summer in the upper peninsula of Michigan, and watching the Bachelor.
Her kind heart and helpful nature will be missed by many.
Due to the current restrictions on gathering, the visitation is limited to 35 people at a time. Visitation is from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy (45231). The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 19,2020 at the All Saints Catholic Church (limited to 100 people), 8939 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, 45236. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cincinnati Hospice.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
