Marie Smith was born February 13, 1928 in Montgomery, Alabama. She departed this life on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. She attended schools in Montgomery, Alabama. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie and Mary Brown; brother, Dave Willie Brown; husband, Jody Smith, beloved daughter, Mary Alice Simmons and her dear son, Robert Simmons, Jr. Marie was gifted in many areas. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time together with family and friends. Marie was a member of Faith Center of Cincinnati, Ohio. Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory: two sisters, Lula Mae Hooks of Montgomery, Alabama and Minnie Lee Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio. Maries life lives on through her daughter, Rosa L. Simmons and three sons, James Simmons, Sr., Willie D. Smith, and Tyrone Smith. Marie also leaves her beloved 14 grandchildren: Tony Simmons, James M. Simmons, Jr., Mary A. Clemens, Jacquelyn Ann Clemens-Williams, Janet Marie Simmons, Toni Marie Simmons, Jerritt D. Simmons, Letfa E. Karriem, Elliott O. Clemens, Latrieca Marie Simmons, Tyrone Rucker, Jerome Rucker, Tiffany N. Long, and Deondra Kinnear; three adopted grandchildren, Deniece, timothy, and Shawn Allen; one daughter-in-law, Victoria Hill; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grand nieces, cousins and dear friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 with Rev. Eugene Godhigh officiating.
