Marie Alice
Coroi
May 1, 1951 – March 29, 2026
Marie Alice Coroi, a cherished loved Mother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to many throughout her life, passed away at the age of 74 after a long-time battle with stage 4 breast cancer on Sunday, March 29th, 2026.
Mary was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 01, 1951, to her loving parents, Robert and Nellie Coroi. She was a woman who lived her life with passion, conviction, and a deep love for the world around her. She experienced so much life yet never lost her curiosity or her voice.
Mary graduated from Hughes High School and was the first and only one in our family to Graduate from William Penn College in 1974. She was proud to purchase her home in 2019. She spent most of her years working for Hamilton County as a Fraud Auditor. She was committed to her job and took it very seriously. She received several awards for her impressive accomplishments.
Mary loved Musicals, baseball, football, tennis, golf, ice skating, the Olympics, and Broadway plays. She never turned off the TV. She would have her TV running as well as her computer tablet at the same time. Her favorite movie was "Imitation of Life". She would watch that over and over again. If it wasn't that movie, she watched every rerun of Law & Order SVU.
Mary had many great memories with her son Michael. Although she was only 4'4, her son was so much taller than her. She always had the upper hand when it came to disciplining him. Her special memory with her son Michael was when he bought her a Care Bear to hold onto when she felt lonely or in pain. She took her last breath with the Care Bear next to her.
Michael was her strength when she felt she had no more. He was there for her every day during her transition. He was her wind beneath her wing.
She loved taking vacation trips with her sisters. We spent many great times in Tennessee and the Bahamas. Every year, she took her sisters to see the Nutcracker play.
To say she liked to talk about politics is an understatement. She had her opinion and stood firmly in her beliefs and never hesitated to speak her mind. Rather, she agreed or disagreed with you, there was something deeply admirable about that honesty and fire in her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nellie Coroi, and·her brothers, David and Bobby.
She is survived by her loving Son, Michael Halsell; Grandsons Va'Shawn & Giavonni; two sisters, Linda and Kate; and her brother Russ; as well as her niece, Anna, and nephew, Phil. She had many great-nieces and nephews, as well as her good friend Kathleen.
More than anything, Mary will be remembered for her spirit and strength, laughter, and even her smart comments up until her last breath. She brought energy into every room and left an impression on everyone she met.
She will be deeply missed, but her voice, her passion, and her love for life will never be forgotten. She cherished every moment she had with all of us. The times together were filled with love and joyful memories.
