October 11, 1937 – May 29, 2021
Margarite Whitehead age 83, passed away on Saturday May 29th, 2021, at Hyde Park Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Margarite (Anne) Walker-Whitehead was the eldest of five her siblings include the late Barbara T. Walker Edwards, Donna Marie Walker and her surviving Brothers Andre Walker, and Wendell Walker. Margarite was blessed with 6 Biological Children, 4 Stepchildren, 18 Grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren. Margarite was an inspiring and devoted mother who raised six children primarily as a single mother. Her children in order of birth are Barbara Anne Walker- Johnson, Harrison Brooks Walker, Kevin Michael Thompson, David Howard Walker, Miles Melenick Howard, and Zola Lumengo Mayhams-Stewart.
Margarite is best known for her strength, grace, intelligence, and resilience. Her ability to not only survive overwhelming unfortunate circumstances in her life but to thrive through unsurmountable obstacles and help others along the way in every way that she could. She was the epitome of "each one teaches one." She embodied this philosophy throughout her life and instilled it in her line. Her legacy is her strength, wisdom, character, grace, and warrior mentality. She was the fighter who never gave up on her beliefs or desire to build and thrive. Margarite's love was writing. She published a blog in a local New York newspaper titled, Maggie's Rag in the 60's. She was able to copyright several of her poems, and wrote and edited the articles in the annual African American Day Parade New York City.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the Walker Event Center, 3939 Reading Road (Corner of Reading and Paddock), Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Everyone attending must show proof of vaccination or wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In keeping with CDC Covid19 Guidelines, anyone attending who has not been fully vaccinated must wear a mask or facial covering. Please be prepared to show Proof Of Vaccination.
