Anderson
April 15, 1952 – February 12, 2021
Margarette Jean "The Witness" Anderson was born to Marie Johnson and Noblin Anderson on April 15, 1952, at home in Yazoo City, MS. From a young age, she was a lover of education and declared that she was going to be a nurse and her brothers would be doctors! Margarette attended Our Lady of Angels and graduated top of her class with honors. She attended The University of Kansas where she earned a Bachelors's Degree in Education and later returned and earned a Master's Degree in Nursing.
Always adventurous and having a deep desire to see the world, she joined the United States Air Force where she served for 15 years. During this time she earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was discharged with full honors. After her time in the Air Force, she enjoyed many other endeavors including a successful nursing career, published writer, songwriter, and beloved gospel radio announcer affectionately known as "The Witness."
As a child, Margarette accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was an active member in the Church through the leadership of her mother. She later earned a degree in Christian Educationand a Doctorate of Divinity.
Beloved mother, sister, and friend, Margarette left a memorable mark on this world. Encouraging many to pursue education, their dreams, and most of all a relationship with Christ.
Margarette was preceded in death by her loving Mother, Father, Brothers: Noblin Anderson, Jr., and Cleve Anderson, Sr. and sister Lucille Collins.
Margarette leaves to cherish her extraordinary memory, children; One Son: Kurtis McKenzie; Three Daughters: Kandis McKenzie, Kandale Watts (Antonio Watts, Sr.), and Kawonia Neely (Carlton Neely). Eleven Grandchildren: Cheeka McKenzie(Frank Mayes), Marzetta Mckenzie, Brian McKenzie, DeAndre McKenzie Symphony Watts, Antonio Watts, Saven Watts, Silas Watts, Kurtis McKenzie, Jr., Raven Powell, and Amariyah Neely. Thirty Great Grandchildren. 2 Sisters: Ethel Mae Morgan and Joe Ann Erkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gone but not forgotten. You will missed!
Visitation is from 10:30 am until 11:30 am, on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the Bethel Baptist Church, 2712 Alms Place, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:30 am. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter the service and social distancing must be practiced. Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
