With profound love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the life of Maggie Mae "Mag" Powell, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Covington, Kentucky. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, Maggie's life was a testament to unwavering strength, boundless love, and quiet resilience. She touched countless lives with her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and steadfast devotion to her family, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations.

Maggie was born on August 1, 1942, in Charleston, Mississippi, to the late Prie Roberson and Mary Roberson. As one of twelve children, she was raised in a close-knit family where faith, perseverance, humility, and love were the guiding principles of daily life. She attended Mark Elementary School and later Quitman County High School, carrying with her the values instilled during her childhood throughout every chapter of her life.

She later married West Powell, Jr., and together they were blessed with children who became the center of her world. Following the end of their marriage in 1975, Maggie courageously relocated her family to Covington, Kentucky, where she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her children. Through every triumph and every hardship, she remained their unwavering foundation—a source of unconditional love, wisdom, strength, and encouragement. Her sacrifices were countless, her love immeasurable, and her greatest joy was seeing her family flourish.

A woman of remarkable determination and integrity, Maggie devoted more than 29 years of service to Johnson Controls in Florence, Kentucky, before retiring. She believed deeply in the dignity of hard work and carried herself with honesty, perseverance, and grace. Her dedication to providing for her family was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her quiet strength became one of the defining characteristics of her life.

Known affectionately as "Ms. Mag" by family and friends and lovingly called "Mun" by her children and grandchildren, Maggie found beauty in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending peaceful days fishing, enjoyed the excitement of bingo, delighted in playing games on her phone, and was often found watching classic movies while listening to the timeless sounds of old-school music. She possessed an unforgettable wit and a playful sense of humor, always ready with a clever remark or a smile that could brighten the darkest day. Whether gathered around the kitchen table sharing stories, lovingly teasing those closest to her, or simply offering her comforting presence, Maggie made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and deeply loved. Her home was more than a place—it was a sanctuary where family came together, laughter echoed through every room, and lasting memories were created.

Maggie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Prie Roberson and Mary Roberson; her former husband, West Powell Jr.; her beloved children, Barbara "B" Powell, James "Jay Jay" Powell, Calvin Powell, Marvin "Mark" Ray Powell, and Danny Ray Powell; and her dear siblings, Inez Jones, Y.C. Brown, Betty Roberson, Willie Mac Roberson, Prie B. Roberson, and Will D. Roberson.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted children, Gloria "G" Powell of Cincinnati, Ohio, and West Powell III of Covington, Kentucky; her loving sisters, Bobbie Smith, Pauline Watson, Alice Roberson, and Florida Mae Roberson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and treasured friends whose lives were forever enriched by her kindness, generosity, and unconditional love.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in the blessing of having known and loved such an extraordinary woman. Maggie's legacy is woven into the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the countless acts of love she shared so freely. Her strength became our example, her wisdom our guide, and her love our greatest gift.

While she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will forever live within every story told, every lesson remembered, every laugh shared, and every heart she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered until we meet again.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Northern Kentucky, 1129 Garrard Street, Covington (41011). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1:00 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
