Luther Jonathan Morton was born to Chester G Morton and Loretta Slee Morton on August 22, 1950 in Cincinnati, OH. He was the second of two boys born to this union. He died on January 11, 2016 at the age of 65. Luther was educated through the Cincinnati Public School system graduating from Withrow High School in 1968. He continued his education at Ohio University in Athens, OH where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1973. While in attendance at OU, he joined the Phi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He was a part of a strong OU Alum network that remains a strong community to this day. On his 30th birthday, August 22, in 1980 Luther, and then wife Rochelle Morton, were blessed with their only child Cherese Morton. While Luther and Rochelle did not remain married, they did remain close friends and supportive parents. Luther was absolutely devoted to Cherese. Luther also enjoyed traveling, working on his many cars and anything electronic. He was always available to lend a helping hand and was everyone's 'go-to' person when something needed fixing. If he told you he was going to do something, it was 'money in the bank' He had a dry wit, a great sense of humor and a huge heart. In 1980, Luther joined the Cincinnati Community Health Board and served as Staff Services Director. Luther remained at CCHB for the next 35 years until the time of his death. He was an integral part of the CCHB and was respected and valued by all of his work family. He was a part of the glue that kept the place running so well. Luther was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Cherese Morton; his fiance, Vanessa Jetters; his brother and sister-in-law, David & Charmaine Morton and a community of friends, extended family and colleagues who loved and admired him. Visitation is from 9:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Walker Funeral Home - North Avondale , 3939 Reading Road , Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
