IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loyal R.
Drye Jr.
August 8, 1952 – May 12, 2025
Loyal Ray Drye, Jr., affectionately known as "Junior," was the beloved son of the late Loyal Ray Drye and Lucille Jane Drye.
Junior exemplified what it means to have a relationship with Christ. He was genuine, fun-loving, and stylish, known for his flair for fashion. As one of the original Fly Dryes, he was also a multifaceted artist.
More than just a son, brother, or uncle, Junior was a true friend who welcomed everyone he encountered; he never met a stranger. In addition to his artistic talents and keen sense of style, he was a servant leader in the healthcare field, working in numerous nursing homes and healthcare facilities. His passion for hair was particularly noteworthy—he loved doing everyone's hair. As he passed by, he would tuck your hair and say, "Girl, you know your hair is beautiful!" He was well-known for his press-and-curl styles, the Jheri curl, and then, relaxers. He always carried a pair of scissors, ready to work his magic.
Junior truly embraced life, experiencing both its highs and lows. Despite facing good and bad days, he lived his life with the Lord. It is comforting and relieving to know that he rededicated his life to the Lord and was rebaptized at the House of Prayer this past Easter Sunday. God always proves faithful, and His timing is perfect. Junior would have surely said, "Thank You, Lord!"
While we mourn Junior's passing, we take solace in the knowledge that he is now reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Lucille Drye; two sisters, Betty and Ruth; and one brother, Melvin Drye.
He is survived by his siblings, Michael Drye (Sherry) and Mary Drye, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the House of Prayer, 6508 Vine Street, Cincinnati (45216). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
