IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loretta Vantress
(Baber) Turner
December 31, 1956 – November 19, 2025
Born in Florida on December 31, 1956, to the late Nettie and Howard Baber, Loretta lived a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Raised in Evanston, Ohio, and later residing in Forest Park, Ohio, she created a home filled with warmth, joy, and unforgettable moments.
Her spiritual journey began early when she joined True Holiness Church as a child. As an adult, she became a faithful member of Higher Faith Ministries under Bishop Lucille Muldrow. In the final year of her life, she found comfort and joy in the sermons of Elder Michael Peoples, whose words touched her spirit in profound ways.
Loretta's passions were simple yet meaningful. She loved reading her Bible, working in her garden, and caring for her yard—known as one of the most beautiful yards on Folkstone Drive. She took pride in everything she touched, and her home reflected her gentle spirit and joyful heart.
To many, she was lovingly known as "Aunty Retta." Her laughter was unforgettable—rich, bold, and full of life. She had a playful spirit and created memories her family will cherish forever: the collarbone pinches, the strength-testing taps on her nephews, and that smile that could light up any room.
In December 2024, Loretta was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She fought with grace, courage, and unwavering faith. Her daughter Lacricia stood by her side every moment, ensuring she never fought alone. Their bond grew even deeper through the battle, and Loretta remained strong until she could no longer fight.
Loretta's passing leaves a space that cannot be filled—but her legacy of love, faith, humor, and strength will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, family, and everyone whose life she touched.
To her beloved grandchildren—especially little Nariah—Loretta's love remains eternal.
She will forever be your guardian angel, whispering love into your heart whenever you miss her.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her light continue to live on through every memory and every heartbeat she leaves behind.
Loretta Turner leaves behind a family and community who loved her more than words can ever express. She is survived by her children, Lacricia Baber and Jautoun Baber, who remains missing but forever held in her heart. Her beloved grandchildren—Brandon Baber, Kieon Baber, Nazsir Hinton, Nalleasha Baber, Nariah Washington, Nakiya Washington, Naveya Washington, and Haleigh—were the sunshine of her life and the reason she smiled even on her hardest days.
To her granddaughter Nariah, Loretta leaves a message from her heart:
"Baby, Grandma isn't leaving you. I will forever be in your heart. Don't cry for me, sweetheart—just remember all the good times. My love for you was bigger than the sky, deeper than the ocean, and stronger than anything in the whole world. I will always, always love you."
She also leaves behind her siblings, Robert Baber Sr. (Kimberly), James Percy Baber (Bobbette), Kim Wells, and Debra Headen, and is preceded in death by her siblings, Howard Baber, Paula Baber, and Felicia Baber. Among her nieces and nephews, Loretta carried a special love for LaSeneca Baber, her heart, her strength, and her pride.
Loretta's circle of friends was truly her extended family. She leaves behind her dear friends Joyce Jackson, Ricky Logan, Wil Byrd, and Natalie Johnson, who was not only a best friend but loved by Loretta like a sister. Their laughter, tears, prayers, and memories created an unbreakable bond that Loretta cherished deeply.
