Memorial Service Monday, November 20, 2017 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. St. Bernard Hall 110 Washington Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45217 Lois passed on October 27, 2017. She was born on June 26, 1959, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Hosea and Bernice Smith. She attended the Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses. Irene, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was an accomplished cosmetologist. After practicing on most of us (smile), she began working in various salons such as Swifton Commons, California Avenue, Burnet Avenue, she even set up a shop in her basement on Glenwood and every one of her kitchens. Irene did use her kitchen for cooking, and a great cook she was. LARD was the key….serving delicious meals time after time, the feast was on!!When the thrill of haircare left her sights (making all uof us comb our own hair), she became an LPN, working at numerous physician offices in the city. Irene was a Beautiful Mother and Grandmother…her children and grandchildren were the LOVE OF HER LIFE!! All she ever did was complete and whole hearted for them. Irene thoroughly enjoyed funk music, attending many concerts with family members, dancing and embracing every moment. Hosting in her home you were sure to hear music from her, LIBRARY of the GREATEST HITS from every artist, most times playing a song twice, "Twin Spin" she'd shout. Shopping was another favorite pastime, BARGAIN RENE'Sho could shop times 2, cause that's how she rolled. Irene loved spending time with children, grandchildren, and other family and friends. Irene is survived by her daughter, Ivory Byrd (B0b) and her son, Shane Byrd (Mia), granddaughter, Dajia Byrd, and grandson, Dash Gaines. Sisters, Monica Mays (Nate) and Kathy Smith of Painesville, Ohio, brother, Eric L. Smith. A host of aunts, uncles, and cousins in and out of town.
