A Home-Going Celebration for Brother Lloyd Edward "Butch" Hubbard *Sunrise: June 4, 1951 • Sunset: May 31, 2025*

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7

Life's Journey Lloyd Edward Hubbard, affectionately known as "Butch," was born on June 4, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at General Hospital to Emma Louise Williams Hubbard and Lloyd Haskell Hubbard. Reared in the Evanston neighborhood, Butch's childhood was filled with the rhythms of front-porch laughter, the aroma of Sunday dinners, and the steadfast love of a praying mother. He graduated from Withrow High School in the Class of 1969 and went on to study nursing at the University of Cincinnati, answering an early call to serve and to heal.

A Man After God's Own Heart From the tambourine-shaking praise of youth to the seasoned "Amen" of adulthood, Butch never missed an opportunity to give God glory. Whether ushering on fifth Sundays, sharing his buttery-smooth keyboard chords during devotion, or simply leaning back in the pew with hands lifted, he believed worship was a lifestyle. He found special joy in jazz scat-turnarounds mingling with gospel hymns—proof that God's music has many tongues.

A Life Well-Lived • Traveler & Fisherman:** A tackle-box philosopher, Butch could coax catfish from the Ohio River while traveling on little road trips with nothing but a map, a cooler, and a hum of Mahalia Jackson in the background. • Chef & Pitmaster:** His fried chicken—seasoned "in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost"—and his BBQ ribs turned any backyard into a fellowship hall. • Musician & Movie Buff:** If a Western or a classic horror flick was on, you'd hear his laugh before the closing credits. Between scenes, he'd noodle on the keyboard, marrying jazz riffs with gospel runs. • Caregiver at Heart:** Professionally and personally, he cared for others—the elderly, the ill, the overlooked—treating every patient as kin.

The Great Reunion Awaiting him at the gates—where the streets are paved with gold and the music never stops—are his parents, Emma Louise and Lloyd Haskell; his beloved wife, Paula Hubbard; grandson, Jamonte Porter; sister, Karen Brantley; brothers, Charles and Robert Hubbard; and nephew, Donald Clayton. We know they welcomed him home with open arms and a heavenly down-home feast.

Precious Memories Butch's legacy lives on in the hearts of:

• His devoted children: Jermayne Porter (Molly) • Grandchildren: Kiez Gordon and Kaylen Porter • Eight loving siblings: Deborah Crutchfield, Ronald Hubbard, Frances Watkins, Clifford Hubbard, Crystal Taylor, Keith Hubbard, Robin Butler, and Angel Hubbard • Forty-eight nieces and nephews, a slew of grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and a vast host of cousins, church family, fishing buddies, and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his quick wit, bear-hug embrace, and unwavering faith.

A Charge to Keep Butch reminded us that joy is a command, laughter is medicine, and service is worship. As we lay him to rest, let us pick up his mantle: love loud, cook often, and pray without ceasing. Well done, good and faithful servant. Take your rest.
