Lizzie Shaw was born January 6, 1919 in Athens, Georgia to the late Frances and Henry Barnett. She moved from Athens to Cincinnati in 1943. Lizzie loved the Lord. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour in 1935 and was an original member of the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. Lizzie always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Her favorite hymns were 'Draw Me Nearer', 'Pass Me Not' and 'Amazing Grace'. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23. Lizzie raised seven children. She was preceded in death by her her husband, John Thomas Shaw and her two sons, Frazier Barnett and John Davis Shaw (Kathy). She leaves to cherish her loving memory three daughters, Mary Louise Scott, Alma Jean Gordon and Deborah Ann O'Connor (Jessie), two sons Michael Shaw and Charles Shaw, 18 grandchildren, Denise Renee Williams (Esau), Bradford Shaw, Robin Scott, Kevin Barnett, DeJuan Shaw (Tara) Christine Shaw-Lynn, Carmen Victor Scott, Michelle Shaw, Gene Scott (Sadiqa), Christopher Shaw, Chucky Gordon (Charlondra), John Davis Shaw, Jr., Timothy Gordon, Laquitta Elliott (deceased), Mychael Shaw, Quran Shaw and Malik Shaw; 60 great grandchildren and 32 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. After a brief illness, she departed on February 16, 2017 at Drake Hospital. She was 98. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 1834 Section Road, Cincinnati (45237). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Baltimore Pike Cemetery.
