Lizzie Ree
Roberts
October 5, 1950 — June 1, 2026
Cincinnati
Lizzie Ree Gordon Roberts, affectionately known as "Liz," was born at Cincinnati General Hospital on October 5, 1950, to the late Claude Hope Gordon and Ella Mae Gordon. She was the fifth of seven children.
Liz graduated from Robert A. Taft High School in 1970. She began her career working for the American Book Company.
On February 26, 1972, Liz married the late Master Sergeant Eugene Roberts and was blessed with two sons, Marcus and Keith Roberts. As a military wife, she traveled with her husband to California, Panama, and several states in between. After returning to the United States, Liz earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential while working at KinderCare. She continued her career in child care until her retirement.
Liz was a devoted Christian who truly loved the Lord. She was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Good News Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder James Quick. Over the years, Liz served in several capacities, including as a missionary, a member of the Mother's Board, and a Sunday School teacher. She especially loved teaching children during Vacation Bible School. She served faithfully until her health no longer permitted her to do so.
On June 1, 2026, Liz was called home to be with the Lord and claim one of God's many mansions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sergeant Eugene Roberts; her son, Keith Lamar Roberts; her parents, Claude Hope and Ella Mae Gordon; and her brother, William C. Gordon.
Liz leaves to cherish her memory her son, Marcus E. Roberts; her grandchildren, Asiae Roberts and Unique Roberts; and her great-grandson, Giovanni Short. She is also survived by her siblings, Charlie Gordon (Eppie), Louella (Fred) Mitchell, Emma Hutchinson, Dorothy (Jewell) Greene, and Hope (Billy) Dean; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
