Lillian
Kirby
May 8, 1927 – March 22, 2026
Lillian (Mitchell) Kirby, the daughter of the late Lucas Mitchell and Minnie Pittman, was born on May 8, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She departed this life on March 22, 2026, at The Hospice of Cincinnati.
Lillian was one part of the family of the late Ed Colvard. She was raised by the family of James and Coot Colvard, and together they lived in the West End of Cincinnati, Ohio.
At an early age, Lillian accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized when she joined New Prospect Baptist Church. She was a faithful member who served on the Usher Board. She also worked in the homes of various families as a housekeeper.
Later in life, she married Walter (Tom) Kirby, who preceded her in death. Tom had 7 children when they married in 1980, and Lillian lovingly embraced the role of wife and mother. The children, in turn, treated her as such. She was deeply loved, and she loved her family dearly. Lillian loved to travel and truly enjoyed life.
One son, Walter J., also preceded her in death, along with two sons-in-law, Rev. William Hagan Sr. and Jimmy Carter, and one daughter-in-law, Margaret (Maggie) Dean Kirby.
Those saddened by Lillian's untimely death, she leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Marvin (Duke) Kirby, James Kirby (Jackie), and Tony Kirby; her three daughters, Carolyn Hagans, Mary Carter, and Charlene Kirby; a host of nieces and nephews; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Also a special thanks to her friends, Ms. Nancy, Ms. Wila, and a very special thank you to Ms. Chris.
