Obituary

Leroy Anderson Sr was born on August 5, 1927, in Cruger, Mississippi.  Leroy was the oldest of 5 children. born to the late Woodsie IB Anderson and Amos Anderson.  At a young age, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1934 with his mother and siblings that proceeded him in death.  The Late Robert, Willa, Ethel and Henry James.  He departed this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Leroy was raised up in church and baptized at an early age.  He attended Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Bond Hil.  He attended Woodward High School in 1941 and graduated in 1945. During this time, he met a beautiful young lady, the late Louise Webb and with this union, God blessed the two with a son, the late Alfred Glenn Webb in 1947.

In 1949, Leroy joined the United States army and served 5 years in the World War II era, being honorably discharged in Nov 1954.

During this time, he created a union with the late Novella Sullivan, and God blessed them with 5 children. This union consisted of the late Billy, Beverly, Tereasa, Woodsie, and the late Leroy Jr.

Years later he created a union with the late Johnetta Dillard Anderson, and created a bond with the youngest Anneke Dillard-Turner.

Leroy was employed at the Railroad from Union Terminal from 1954 to 1957 before he transitioned to the United States Postal Service in 1958.  He worked for the United States Postal Service for 37 years and retired in 1995 as a supervisor for the Walnut Hills Station.  He worked very hard during his time at the post office.

Leroy loved traveling, his children and grandchildren.  He was loved and respected by many and would help anyone in need.  He loved taking care of elderly people and children.  He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need whether they were family or not.  He would fuss and bark, but he had a heart of gold, and many people loved him.

He leaves to celebrate and mourn his death and carry on his legacy of a good heart and loving spirit, his 4 daughters, Beverly Griffis (Earl), Tereasa Williams (Johnny), Woodsie Tidwell (Wayne) and Anneke Turner (Darrell).  His grandchildren Alfred Webb Jr, Christin Lee, Jason (Alicia), JaJuan Anderson, Jazmin (Carlos), Bryan (Ashley), Cheresa (Robert) Qiana, Damekko, and Ashley, and host of great grandkids and nieces and nephews and friends and other relatives that loved him.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Walker Event Center, 3939 Reading Road (Corner of Reading and Paddock), Cincinnati  (45229).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
