IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leon Windall
Walton
July 10, 1936 – October 27, 2017
Leon W. Walton, 81, transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, October 27 at Burlington House. Leon was born July 10, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama to late Reginald and Mamie Walton. Leon committed his life to Christ at an early age while attending Groveland Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Leon attended A.H. Parker High School and was drafted to the United States Army in 1954. He later met and married Eliza Davis on April 5, 1958. God blessed their union with two children, Roger and Yvonne. After moving the family to Cincinnati in 1969, Leon found work as a machinist at Liebel-Flarsheim. He was responsible for operating the drill press and eventually was promoted to a foreman position. After 30 years of service, he retired in 2002. In his leisure time, Leon loved to work with his hands. He loved building and fixing things around the house or repairing cars. Fondly named "The Mayor of Edgemont" by neighbors, Leon was devoted to keeping the lawn of his home and surrounding houses manicured. When not in the yard or fixing something, he would be either listening to jazz or watching "Real" Western Movies where the cowboys never lost their hats. He also enjoyed bowling and often participated in the company bowling league. Leon joined Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in the early 1990s where he served on the Usher Board. He faithfully attended early morning service until his health no longer allowed him to participate. Leon leaves to celebrate his life: his wife, Eliza Walton; daughter, Yvonne Walton-Brewster; son-in-law, John Brewster; daughter-in-law, Joyce White-Walton; god-daughter, Wray (Dwayne) Jones; grandchildren, Reginald (Damayra) Fletcher, Deon (Tanya) Mack, Sherita (Reginald) Harrison, Demica Mack, Tynesha Tavis, CaShaun (Roy) Bolden-Barwick, and Brandon Moore; 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of special family and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, November 3, 2017, at the Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church , 9991 Wayne Ave, Woodlawn (45215). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, 11200 Princeton Pike, Springdale, Ohio 45246.
