IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lemuel Dean
Peele
September 3, 1935 – January 6, 2026
Rev. Lemuel Dean Peele was born on September 3, 1935, in Wayne County, North Carolina, to the union of Jodie and Mattie Peele. He was the youngest of seven siblings.
On September 24, 1983, Lemuel and Mincel Peele were joined in Holy Matrimony. Through this union, Lemuel became a loving father to her son, Herbert L. Holmes. Together, they shared 43 happy years of marriage.
Lemuel dedicated many years of service as a nurse at Drake Hospital and Lincoln Crawford Nursing Home. In 1992, he joined Corinthian Baptist Church, where he was a faithful, active, and devoted member as long as his health permitted. Although he was later unable to attend services regularly, he deeply enjoyed visits from the pastor and church members who prayed with him in his home.
Lemuel cherished simple joys, including Sunday dinners at his mother-in-law's home, church barbecues, and reading the Word of God.
On January 6, 2026, Rev. Lemuel Dean Peele peacefully transitioned while under care at Norwood Tower Nursing Facility. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jodie and Mattie Peele, and all seven of his siblings.
Lemuel leaves to cherish his loving memory his precious wife, Mincel Peele; son, Herbert L. Holmes (Yolanda); two grandchildren, Brittny C. Holmes Turner (Lorenzo) and LaJai Holmes; four great-grandchildren, Siryan, Zacaris, Italia Harkness, and NYaira Turner; his favorite niece, Mesha O. Fountain; his favorite sister-in-law, Herberta Reynolds; and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
