Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the heavenly transition of Latraiel Renee Gamble, age 73, of Monroe, Ohio, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was born on Monday, March 31, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio.

Latraiel R. Gamble, 73, Youngstown, Ohio-native, veteran, and educator passed away at her home in Monroe, Ohio on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Latraiel was born March 31, 1952, the daughter of the late Cleveland Ellerbe and Juanita Mae (Coward) Gamble of Youngstown, Ohio. She attended South High School. Afterwards, Latraiel started her career in education, teaching in the classroom for five years and spending five years in the not-for-profit arena; finally settling in public service. She served as Program Administrator for the State of Ohio, Department of Job and Family Service.

Latraiel served in the U. S. Air Force for almost 20 years retiring with the rank of E-5 Staff Sergeant (SSgt) (NCO). Prior to retiring, Latraiel also worked for the US Postal Service. Latraiel was a graduate of Ohio Dominican University (formerly Ohio Dominican College), Columbus, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Later she earned a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University.

Latraiel will be deeply mourned by son, Edward (Annice) Graves, and daughter, Monique (Bobbie) Gamble-Wright. Along with close friends Vita Gibson, Margaret Newton, Mr. &  Mrs. Christopher (Judy) Williams, and a host of relatives.

She is survived by her sister, Lawanda Bennett-World, grandchildren, Temeisha (Jones) Hicks, Emmanual Gamble, Carmella Gamble, Brittnee Graves, Quintin Graves, Jonathan Graves, Zachary Evans, LaDee Gamble, Gloria Wright, Bobbie Wright, and Honey Wright.She is preceded in death by both parents, her eldest daughter, Lisa Renee (Gamble) Durham, brothers, Isaac Smith II, Ernest Smith, and Keith Gamble.

She will be laid to rest with full military honors on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11 am at The Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West 3rd Street, Dayton, Ohio.
