IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laird William
Wallace
September 21, 1963 – May 9, 2025
Laird was born in Cincinnati Ohio to the union of Charles Wayne Wallace and Janie McCrimon Wallace. He graduated from Withrow High School and worked various jobs between retail and service industries as a teenager & young adult. During his teenage years he traveled and played the drums for the Cincinnati Stridettes Dance Team & Drum Corps. He lived and enjoyed life without limits far beyond expectations, even after an unfortunate injury, which occurred 39 years ago. After that incident, at the age of 22 he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. Even so he never wanted to betreated differently or accommodated in any special way. He directly focused on living as if the injury never occurred. Laird lived a very full life, of independence and mobility to be admired. He was always considerate and helpful to others while making himself useful, and available. He especially illustrated empathy and compassion towards the seniors and people in the community within the family, extended family, and friends... that certain compassion was further extended to the neighborhood cats, that he always fed. He loved working with his best friend Mike, at his auto repair shop, where he spent numerous hours.
Laird offered appointment transportation to people in need before the Uber/Lyft concept even existed. He was the in-house photographer at any event he attended, and took many, many pictures. If there was dancing going on, he joined right in because he loved to dance. He loved roller skating and was great at the sport prior to his injury. Laird enjoyed collecting Hot Wheel cars, CDs, and watching old movies. He had begun embracing the digital age by playing games like Solitaire and using popular apps on his tablet. He also entertained himself by following Old School music and antique cars on Pinterest and Facebook, sharing these interests with many of us. Keeping strong ties, communicating with high school alumni, and participating in community events was important to him. He enjoyed participating in bible study and following sports. The Bengals & San Francisco 49ers were 2 of the NFL teams he claimed. Later in life he spent time traveling with family which afforded him the opportunity of touring the states of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, Pittsburgh & Washington DC. Though he truly was a Cincy- lifer he enjoyed taking such trips with his sister and brother-in-law. Always happy, he addressed everyone... "Greetings", always smiling, never complaining. Wherever he went, his warm & compassionate personality was always remembered because he never met a stranger. Recently, even after being diagnosed with non-alcoholic liver disease a year ago, Laird remained resilient and determined to be independent. He did not want to be a burden to anyone. With all said, Laird will be truly and deeply missed.
