IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Khalil Omari
Scott
May 3, 1999 – May 31, 2025
Khalil Omari Scott was born May 3, 1999, in Cincinnati Ohio. He was the youngest son born to Dan L. Scott & Shannon L. Elliott. Khalil attended North College Hill schools from elementary through high school, where he wrestled and played varsity football. Khalil was well known for being a force to be reckoned with on the field. Khalil graduated in 2017 where he received his diploma, as well as a Trade Certificate in Construction Technology from Diamond Oaks. Khalil went on to pursue his education at Kable Academy, where he received a certificate in computer technology.
As a child Khalil loved to visit his family in Alabama. He always looked forward to spending the summer hanging out with his cousins riding four wheelers and having cap sessions, going out to eat or just having a home cooked meal with family. Khalil was family oriented, loyal and protective. He was what we would call a "Gentle Giant" very tough on the outside yet soft on the inside, with a heart full of love. Khalil was also most definitely a kid magnet, rather in an upbeat or down mood. Khalil had a soft spot for kids, they naturally gravitated to him, and he loved them like no other. Khalil took pride in being a father. He loved spending time with his son. He also enjoyed playing video games, cards and watching sports. Especially his favorite football team, everybody knew how much Khalil loved his BAMA, ROLL TIDE!!
Khalil was very mechanically inclined; whether it was putting things together or working on cars, he loved to use his hands. Khalil was also a voice of reason and was always there to lend a helping hand. Before Khalil's passing, he had hopes of starting a mental awareness group for men. He was the epitome of selflessness. Even throughout his struggles he still yearned to help another.
Khalil Leaves to cherish his memory and legacy his loving Parents Dan Scott & Shannon Elliott; Grandparent: Annie Scott; Siblings: Demarius Dunklin, Camron Scott, Nakheila Satterfield, William Dunklin, Robert Miller IV; Only Son: Kayleon Scott and Nehshelle Wright (Mother). He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert Scott, William & Virginia Parker. Also, a host of family & friends.
The passing of Khalil has put a lot into perspective for our family, and we cannot express enough how important it is to always take care of your mental health.
Khalil's journey came to an end due to death by suicide, following a long and courageous battle with mental health. Over the past year, he and his loved ones fought tirelessly to overcome the darkness, but ultimately, the struggle became too great. Even in his most difficult moments, Khalil remained selfless, honest, protective, and supportive, a true light in the lives of those around him.
He leaves behind a grieving family and a beloved baby boy who is nearing his first birthday. Their heartbreak is unimaginable.
In the wake of this devastating loss, the family is now faced with the unexpected burden of funeral expenses, as life insurance coverage does not apply in this situation. While navigating their grief, they are also determined to raise awareness about mental health and to honor Khalil's legacy by supporting others who may feel alone or unheard.
This will be a long and difficult journey, but they will move forward one day at a time. Your support—whether through prayers, donations, or resources is deeply appreciated and will help the family give Khalil the farewell he deserves.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Zion Global Ministries - West Chester, 9180 Cincinnati Columbus Road, West Chester (45069). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220.
