IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Raymond
Burks
December 15, 1954 – August 30, 2021
Kenneth Raymond Burks was born on December 15th, 1954 to the union of Richard and Corrine Burks. He was a life long resident of Cincinnati, OH. Kenny, as he was called, was a father to 3 sons: Kenneth Jr., Barry and Jason, whom he loved very much in his own special way. Kenny attended Hughes High School and later, went on to work at various jobs such as the Duro Paper Bag Co., as a cab driver and as an orderly at the former General Hospital.
He was an avid lover of old school music. He would listen to the radio stations of WDJO and WGRR all day long. Some of his favorite singers were James Brown, Archie Bell and the Drells and Johnny 'Guitar' Watson to name a few. He was known for being a very sweet, fun and kind hearted person.
Once, while driving cab, he saw his cousin Joanne walking on the street. He stopped and ask her where she was going. She needed to go shopping. He picked her up, waited for her outside while she shopped, then took her home and told her that he was only going to charge her nothing but love.
His loving heart was displayed again on a cold snowy night. Kenneth was visiting his mothers home and listening to music. He heard a loud noise on the street. He ran outside in the snow with no shoes on to help two people involved in a car crash. A woman was screaming for help. Kenneth ran to her car and with his sheer strength, he bent the steering wheel away from the woman's chest and pulled her out of the car. He stayed with her until an ambulance came.
His brother Jimmy, back in the day, sometimes would loan him his black T-Top Grand Prix on weekends to drive around in and he made a lot of female friends because of it. His brother Michael remembered the days of playing marbles, going to the Regal Theater to watch karate movies together and playing basketball with him in the next door neighbors backyard. Kenny was so proud that he could grab the rim of the basket.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Corrine, his brothers Joseph and Anthony and his wife Michelle. He is survived by his 3 sons, 5 grand kids and 6 great grand kids. His sisters: Ana and Donna, his brothers James and Michael and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at Walker Funeral Home, 2625 Gilbert Ave., Walnut Hills (45206).
Interment will follow at Baltimore Pike Cemetery.
