Katrina Ann, was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 15, 1941.

My parents, Edward and Annabelle Jones, my Grandmother, May Evelyn Jane Davis, and my Aunt Phyllis R. Shackelford all had a hand in raising me. I was not a very difficult child, as I remember, but it took a lot of people to give me direction in life, using the Bible.

I was brought to Cincinnati, Ohio when I was 2 ½ years old. So I have lived in Cincinnati for most of my life.I dedicated my life to Jehovah and symbolized it by water immersion on January 29, 1954. I began regular pioneering in 1962 (for the first time) and had the privilege to serve where the need was greater in Aliceville, Alabama along with two pioneer sisters from Cincinnati. One of them was my longtime friend and future sister-in-law, Patricia Parish Fails. I met and married my husband William Fails, 5/7/1966.

I had to stop pioneering because of circumstances, but I had the privilege to begin regular pioneering again along with my husband, William, until his death in the year 2006. I had lost my pioneer partner when my husband died, but Jehovah blessed me when I had the privilege to attend and become a part of the French congregation in 2007. I was helped by Madame Michelle Bois, to speak and understand the French language, and I appreciated Professor Bois’ patience. I enjoyed witnessing in the French territory. There were times when I struggled to understand when others spoke to me, but I did not give up. I continued to pioneer, my true vocation, until the day of my passing.

I worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years until I retired in 2002. After that, I worked part-time for Riggs School Bus Service and then, for First Student, until I retired, again. I enjoyed the school bus because it gave me the opportunity to work with mentally and physically handicapped children.

I leave to mourn my passing, my two sons, Jonathan Fails from Pasadena, California, his loving companion Elizabeth Becerra, Kevin Fails from Cincinnati, Ohio, my granddaughters, Meghann Corral from Panorama City, Ca her loving companion Aldrin Bigay, Vanessa Fails from Los Angeles, Ca, her loving companion Wuelvin Campos, three great-granddaughters, Athena Fails, Araya and Arabella. Cassandra Flores, and her three sons, and Crystal Snodgrass. Also, I leave my dear sister Phyllis Holliman (Ernest) my dear sister-in law, Patricia Fails (James deceased) my cousins David Shackelford, of Cincinnati, Oh, Daniel Shackelford (Benita) of Charlotte, NC, William Redd (Joy) the Dominican Republic, and many dear relatives in Virginia, Massachusetts and the country of Panama.

I will borrow some of these phrases from my dear uncle D.G. Shackelford, who preceded me in death. It was my wish that everyone continues to love and serve Jehovah, and if I am permitted by Jehovah’s undeserved kindness, to open my eyes in his righteous new world, it is my hope that I will see all my dear relatives and friends, again. Until then, keep “Rejoicing in the hope, enduring under tribulation, and persevering in prayer” Romans 12:12

Elle a consacré sa vie à Jéhovah et a été baptisée le 29 janvier 1954. Elle a commencé à faire régulièrement du travail de pionnier en 1962 et a eu le privilège de servir là où le besoin était le plus grand, à Aliceville, en Alabama, aux côtés de deux autres sœurs pionnières de Cincinnati. L'une d'elles était son amie de longue date, Patricia Parish Fails, qui est ensuite devenue sa belle-sœur. Katrina a rencontré William Fails et ils se sont mariés le 7 mai 1966.

Elle a dû interrompre son activité de pionnière pendant un moment, mais elle a eu le privilège de la reprendre aux côtés de son mari, jusqu'à son décès en 2006. Elle a perdu son partenaire de travail de pionnier quand son mari est mort, mais Jéhovah l'a bénie en lui donnant le privilège de rejoindre la congrégation française en 2007. Michelle Bois l’a aidée à parler et à comprendre le français, et j’apprécie beaucoup sa patience. Elle a adoré témoigner sur le territoire français. Il lui arrivait parfois de ne pas comprendre ce que les autres lui disaient, mais elle n’a pas abandonné et a continué à exercer sa vocation de pionnière jusqu’au jour de son décès.

Elle a travaillé pour la poste américaine pendant 21 ans, jusqu'à sa retraite en 2002. Après cela, elle a travaillé un certain temps chez Riggs School Bus Service, puis chez First Student, avant de revenir au transport scolaire, car cela lui donnait l'occasion de travailler avec des enfants en situation de handicap mental ou physique.

Elle laisse derrière elle, à sa mort, ses deux fils : Jonathan Fails, de Pasadena, en Californie, et sa compagne Elizabeth Becerra ; Kevin Fails, de Cincinnati, dans l’Ohio ; ses petites-filles : Meghann Coral, de Panorama City, en Californie, et son compagnon Aldrin Bigay ; Vanessa Fails, de Los Angeles, en Californie ; ses trois arrière-petites-filles : Athena Fails, Araya et Arabella ; sa chère sœur Phylis Holliman (Ernest) ; sa chère belle-sœur Patricia Fails (James) ; ses cousins : David Shackelford, de Cincinnati ; Daniel Shackelford (Benita), de Charlotte, en Caroline du Nord ; William Redd (Joy), de la République dominicaine ; ainsi que de nombreux autres proches en Virginie, dans le Massachusetts et au Panama.

Dans ses propres mots, elle a laissé une note personnelle à chacun d'entre nous : Je vais emprunter quelques-unes de ces phrases à mon cher oncle DG Shackelford, qui m’a précédé dans la mort. Avant de mourir, j’avais le souhait que tout le monde continue d'aimer et de servir Jéhovah. Et si, par la bonté imméritée de Jéhovah, je devais ouvrir les yeux dans son nouveau monde juste, j’espère revoir tous mes chers proches et amis, et nous réjouir ensemble dans l’espoir qui endure malgré les épreuves (Romains 12:12).
