IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Margaret
Lawrence
March 9, 1950 – December 26, 2024
In loving Memory of Karen Lawrence, who passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on March 9, 1950, Karen was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, beloved son, John R. Chappell who predeceased her on May 17, 2018, and with her brother Charles Lawrence, and sisters-in-love Glenna and Faye Lawrence. Karen was a devoted mother to Julie (Tim) Pomeroy and mother-in-love to Jenny Chappell and is missed dearly by her surviving family including her grandchildren Jennifer (Brad) Pfeiffer, Joshua Pomeroy, Emily Chappell, and Leah Chappell. She was a proud great-grandmother to Sophia Pfeiffer. She is survived by her loving brother Grant Lawrence. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends.
Karen was a woman of many passions. Karen enjoyed painting, singing in her church choir, and dancing in the rain. Karen enjoyed cooking, and story-telling at family gatherings, and serving in her church. Her favorite place was "The Branch" in Boone, NC, where she attended many family reunions, for she was proud of her family's heritage. Her smile lit up any room she entered. Karen's friendships encompassed all aspects of life, and each was special to her. From phone calls, to family outings, to sharing meals, to reunions, Karen was up for it all. Karen loved her friends Arlene and Debbie and she considered them bonus sisters to her. Karen knew that friendships take work to maintain and she put the effort in, thus got to reap the reward for she was friend to many.
Despite the heartache of losing her beloved son John, and her dear sibling Charles Lawrence, and sisters-in-love Glena Lawrence, and Faye Lawrence, Karen's sight on heaven shone brightly. While she grieved each loss that touched her deeply, she continually found solace in God's promise of salvation.
Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, extended family, and lifelong friends was a guiding light throughout the later years of her life.
Karen's memory will remain alive in the hearts of all who loved her. As the family gathers to share in memories and stories, we will remember her as a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, but forever cherished.
