Obituary

June Ellis Hales, aged 65, mostly known by June or Juneboy, was born to Elie Hales and Annie Elizabeth Hales on Saturday, March 26, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

June attended Hayes / Porter Middle School and was a graduate of Western Hills High School where he ran track and field.  He loved telling stories, fiction and non-fiction, and had a vivid imagination which he displayed in his artwork. He also had a profound love for his nieces and nephews.  At a very young age, June had a talent to be an artist.  He loved drawing and creating beautiful pieces of art.  He also loved playing his guitar, which he played for many years.

As a young man, Ellis had a great love for the security industry and spent many years working as a security officer and doing multiple security details around the city.  He was most proud of the detail he worked for at Rink's.  He would leave before sun up and wouldn't return until well after dark.  Another one of his passions was music.  He had an extensive vinyl record collection which he was very protective of.  He passed away on December 31, 2024.  June had a very close relationship with his mother and father that was unbreakable, and we ALL pray that they are in Heaven together again, rejoicing.

Ellis was preceded in death by his late mother and father, Annie Elizabeth Hales and Elie Hales; brothers, Vernon Smiley and Frankie Smiley; niece, Andrea Hales and brother-in-law, Gary Gibson, Sr.

June leaves to cherish his memories, sisters, Elaine Hales and Margaret Hales; brothers, Ricky Hales and Eric Hales; a host of nieces and nephews and lots of friends around the Cincinnati area.

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned.  The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
