IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Julius C.

Reynolds, Jr.

October 30, 1954 – December 5, 2023

Obituary

Julius was born October 30, 1954, the namesake of Julius Carldon Reynolds Sr. (Milliedgeville, Georgia) and Joyce Marie Merritt (Wyoming, Ohio), in Cincinnati, Ohio, the middle child born to this union along with sisters Judith and Karen.

Julius was baptized at an early age by Rev. E.O. Thomas at Inspirational Baptist Church. He grew up in the West End in Park Town. Julius attended Washburn Elementary, Bloom Junior High and graduated from Robert A Taft High School. An Avid baseball fan, he loved The Cincinnati Reds and as a youngster he had a massive baseball card collection. He then went on to play the game and ultimately coached several baseball teams from the West End in Parktown.

Rather than watch them on TV he preferred to listen to the games on his ever-present transistor radio. He loved swimming and bike riding. He was an easygoing and caring man who never met a stranger. At 6'4 he could strike someone as quite an imposing figure upon first meeting him but would be pleasantly surprised by the big guy with the even bigger heart. He truly was a gentle giant. He worked in security for many years before recently retiring. After his retirement, he worked as a crossing guard for Cincinnati Public Schools. He was always kind and approachable to everyone who was lucky to cross paths with him. He was a man of character with a humble and forgiving way.

He'll be remembered as a beloved brother, doting Uncle, Grandpa, and Bonus Dad who was always proud of his family and loved to brag about their accomplishment, big or small.  He lived by the belief that no one is a stranger, just a friend you haven't met yet. Anyone who met him could attest to his sincere kindness. He would give you the shirt off his back. He loved telling jokes (mostly corny but would still manage to crack everyone up), he loved to laugh and had a dimple smile to pair with it. He found joy in his family, friends, the Temptations, and his beloved Cleveland Browns. He was down to earth and valued the simple things in life.

He was always there to share his peanuts (shelled of course), a cold beer, and an understanding ear when you needed someone to talk to. He was a gentleman's gentleman. Julius was preceded in death by his beloved parents and two sisters, Garnetta Cody Franklin (Sylvester), and Kim. He is survived by his sisters Judith Reynolds, Karen Warner (Larry), and Katrina Underwood, two nieces, Tamela Booker (Daren), and Trina Walton; grand nieces, and nephews: Jayson Booker, Taryn Booker, Prince Walton-Love, Paris Walton-Love; former wife Karen Reynolds; daughter in love, Tiffany Fullman Chang (Al) and Grandsons in Love, Tyler and Kobe Chang and a host of cousins, other family and friends.
