IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Juanita
Cave
May 20, 1939 – January 11, 2026
Juanita Scott-Cave was born on May 20, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Shelby Scott and Lillian Jones, who both preceded her in death. Florence Murphy is honored for being a vital part of Juanita's upbringing. Juanita peacefully departed her earthly vessel on Sunday, January 11, 2026, to be with her heavenly father.
As a child, Juanita became a faithful member of the Addyston Methodist Church. As an adult, Juanita rededicated her life to Christ at Samaria, (ECOGIC). Later in her life, Juanita became a member of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where Dr. Donald E. Jones was her pastor. Juanita chose to move her membership to the First Baptist Church of Delhi (Sayler Park) under the leadership of Emeritus Pastor Frank Slyvester. Shortly thereafter, her son James O. Scott joined the same church and became her pastor.
Juanita attended Taylor High School, and she married at a young age to the late Arthur Leonard Cave Sr. and from this union seven children were born: James (Robin) O. Scott, Belinda (Oliver) Whatley, Stephanie Cave, Arthur Cave Jr., Anthony Cave, Robert Cave, and Theresa (Kenneth) Cave-Brown-Lockett.
Juanita's dream came true for her family after marrying the love of her life and having a brand-new home built solely by the hands of her late husband, Arthur Leonard Cave Sr. Juanita was a dedicated mother who knew the importance of introducing her children to Christ at an early age, and this journey began at Samaria in Addyston, Ohio. Juanita loved to entertain family with her cooking, and she was an avid reader who loved reading novels and working on crossword puzzles. Juanita was a favorite aunt by many of her nieces and nephews because they loved her and her good cooking. Many members of the family often came to Juanita for advice because they knew that she could be trusted, and they knew that she would direct them on the right path. Juanita was a hard worker that made many sacrifices for her seven children.
Juanita went to work outside of the home once the last child (Theresa) went to kindergarten. Juanita was employed by Three Rivers Nursing Center, Wesley Hall, and The Good Samaritan Hospital. This employment exceeded 36 years. As a direct result of her employment, Juanita gained an even greater desire to assist the elderly.
Juanita resided at the Ahepa 127-11 senior building in Mt. Healthy until her health began to decline in 2020, at which time she became a resident of the Liberty Nursing Center of Colerain.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Leonard Cave Sr., brother, James Orlando Scott, sister, Anna Elizabeth Cagle, son, Robert A. Cave, grand-daughter, Erica Lockett, daughter-in-law, Lola B. Cave, and grandson, Brandon E. Brown.
Juanita leaves to cherish: three sons, James O. Scott, Arthur Cave Jr., and Anthony Cave. Three daughters: Belinda Whatley, Stephanie Cave, and Theresa Cave-Brown-Lockett, and a very special sister-in-law, Helen Louise Cave-Hilgeman and Mozella Cave. One special nephew, Kevin Morris, who traveled from Springfield, Ohio with the Voices of Thunder to bless and encourage Juanita with their spiritual singing and praise. Her legacy includes fourteen grandchildren: Michael (Yvonne) Cave Sr., Ein (Nicole) Whatley, Samuel Whatley, Maurice, Brittany, and Wyman Lockett Jr., Tony Garrett, Arthur (Lauren) Cave III, Michelle Cave, Toni (Russell) Mitchell, Shennell Smith, Kendre Lamar, Brandon, and Blake Brown, one very special step-granddaughter Krystal (Oliver) Okhator-Lockett. Thirty-one great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
