Joyce Ann Cargile December 28, 1954 - February 24, 2023
Joyce Ann Cargile was born on December 28, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Woodrow Wilson and Ethel M. Wilson.
After a valiant battle with liver and stomach cancer, she transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord at her home on February 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Lawrence Cargile on May 23,1972. To that union they bore three Daughters Tawanda, Talesha, and Lacresha, they were blessed to enjoy fifty years of marriage which lasted until Joyce was called home to be with the Lord.
Joyce was a steadfast servant of the Lord and a valuable member of Peace Baptist Church where she was one of the first women to receive the 2021 Legend of Peace Award. Joyce's incredible lifestyle of integrity and love with relationship to being a mother to her natural children and the many women in the community she set the standard for exemplary motherhood and womanhood she was the first recipient of The Margie Earley Mother of the Year Award because of the standard she set from the Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc in 2001. Joyce served as the Head of the Women's Ministry. Joyce also took over the Beautification Committee after the passing of Sis. Gladdys Rucker. She was also a part of the deaconess ministry alongside her Husband, the women's ministry women's retreat to Tennessee Gatlinburg handling the travel arrangements, an advocate bible student, an advert member of DLT bible study, a vital member to the praise and worship team, as well as the decorations committee and women's straight talk.
She retired from United States Postal Service in 2009. Joyce attended Withrow High School. Joyce became well known for the beautiful work she did around the church to the point that many others began to seek her services to create unique and eye-catching events for their weddings, anniversaries, luncheons and many types of events.
Joyce had a heart that caused her to love everyone she met. She always had an ear available to listen, a shoulder available to lean on and a love for God and people that kept her ready and able to pray for and counsel anyone who sought her out. The light and love that Joyce shone in the world is one that will be greatly missed as it was one of a kind and completely irreplaceable.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow Wilson and Ethel M. Wilson, her sisters Brenda J. Pitts (Johnnie), Dolores Boggan and her great-grandson Antwan Woods.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving husband of Fifty (50) years Lawrence Cargile; Children: Tawanda R. Cargile, Talesha D. Cargile, Lacresha J. Cargile, Traisee N. Barnes (Aaron) Tonya R. Benn and Paul L. Cargile; brothers Kenneth Wilson (Latressa), George Williams (Mary). Grandchildren: Alexis Cargile, Jevon Cargile, David Cargile, Lathesia Cargile. Great Grandchildren: Logan Cargile, Myracle Woods, Dior Cargile, Nevaeh Cargile.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Peace Baptist Church, 652 Rockdale Avenue, Cincinnati (45229). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
