Joyce Ann Tye was born on January 17, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Mabel Hardnett and Buford Booker. She was the second oldest of seven children. She grew up in the West End and was raised by her grandmother, Minnie Hardnett. She attended Robert A. Taft High School. Joyce was a devoted and loving mother to her four children. She worked in the health care field as an environmental services specialist for over twenty-five years. She retired from the University of Cincinnati Hospital. Everyone that met Joyce was touched by her unforgettable smile and Jazzy style. She was an extremely INDEPENDENT woman and believed in working hard. She loved to laugh, eat, cook, listen to music, shop, and most of all she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and friends. Joyce was considered "The Life of the Party." She loved to attend and spend time with the children on Sunday at Grace Episcopal Church. She also attended the College Hill Presbyterian Church. God called Joyce to her Heavenly Home on June 11, 2017. She will never be forgotten and her spirit will be truly be missed. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother Mabel Williams, father Buford Booker, brother Allen Booker, grandmother, Minnie Hardnett, and loving son Steven Rouden. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughters, Jacqueline (Lloyd), Stephanie, Marquita, sisters Norma Booker, Gloria Miller (Luther), brothers, Lawrence Hardnett, Bishop Steven McCroey, Stanley Booker, grandchildren, Rickale, Djuan, DeMarcko, R'Nika, Jont'a, Denzel, Stephan, Mariah, nieces, Lakeisha, Stayshana, LaCandice, Latisha, Stephanie, Ebony, Renica, Sherica, nephews, LaDonn, Lawrence Antonio, Charles, Mareco, Steven Jr., and a host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends that loved her. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Walker Funeral Chapel-Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
