Celebrating the Life and Spirit of Joyce Cavanaugh Joyce (Howell) Cavanaugh, 63, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was born on March 4, 1954 to the union of the late Earl and Ossie M. Howell. Joyce passed away on November 8, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends at her time of death. Joyce married Robert H. Cavanaugh who preceded her in death. Joyce attended Cincinnati Public Schools. After high school she worked doing private duty nursing. She later went to work at the Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services, where she worked in social services for over 25 years until her retirement. Joyce was a caring and loving mother who loved her son dearly. They had a very special bond. She was very proud of who he had become and said she was blessed to have him. Joyce loved having family gatherings on the holidays. She usually did most of the cooking which she truly enjoyed. Joyce took pride in her cooking and was very good at it. Some of her specialties included her turkey and dressing, cabbage and sock-it-to-me cake, which she always made for her son. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her son Robert (Tanisha) Howell Sr.; grandchildren Robert Jr., Jonathan and Lauren Howell; siblings Ann Hardy, Helen Howell, Wendy Howell and Earl Howell. A very special friend WIllie Carter; her aunt Betty Atkinson and a host of relatives and friends. Brothers Henry Howell and Charles Howell preceded her in death. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Walker Funeral Chapel-Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinnati (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Baltimore Pike Cemetery , 3200 Costello Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211.
