Josephine  Underwood

May 16, 1948 - May 5, 2022

The world became brighter on May 16, 1948, the day that Josephine Louise Underwood was born.  She was affectionately known as Cookie.  She passed on May 4, 2022, after a long and happy life.  She will be sorely missed.

Josephine was born in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Curtis Eugene Underwood and Carrie Elizabeth Jackson Underwood. She accepted Christ at the age of eight at First Baptist Church of Walnut Hills under the Rev. B.E. Edmonson.  She is a graduate of Withrow High School and attended the University of Cincinnati.  Josephine worked for many years at Church of the Advent and Cincinnati public schools.  she enjoyed traveling, sewing, camping, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Curtis Eugene Underwood, Jr.

She leaves to mourn her passing, sister, Mamie Underwood-Dawson; sister-in-law, Pearl Underwood; nieces, Charese Dawson, Kerri Beth Underwood, Ashlynn Buks, Quianna Hardy, Alexis Herd, Kelis Thompson, Kelani Thompson, Akinyi Underwood and Qwendalyn Hardy; nephews, Joseph Herd III, Alex Underwood, Anthony Burks, Jr., Quentin Hardy, Jr., Jamius Jackson and Geremyan Underwood.

Friends may gather at the Walker Event Center, 3939 Reading Road on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm until time of memorial service at 2:30 pm.
