Josephine Sprouse Pappas, 71, a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Washington and its Philoptohos women's society, died December 18, 2000 at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney after a stroke. Mrs. Pappas, a Silver Spring resident, was born in Williamson, West Virginia, on June 27, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry and Bessie (Kirk) Sprouse. She moved to the Washington area in the mid-1940s. Her marriage to Gus Pappas Sr. ended in divorce. Survivors include two daughters, Lynn M. Kanaskie of Bedford, Pa., and Robin D. Cois of Clarksville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A son, Gus Pappas Jr., died in 1967.
