In Loving Memory of Josephine "Josie" Gist

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josie Gist, who departed this life on November 7, 2025. She was born on March 26, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Josie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Josie is survived by her loving husband, James Gist; her children, Sabrina Williams, James Gist, Jr. (Misty Jordan), Priscilla Gist, Brandy Gist (Justin Sturgeon), and Joseph Gist (Erica Gist); and her cherished grandchildren, Gary Short (Montanna Short), Destiny Gist, Alexis Short, Zachary Gist, Kylen Childress, Sarah Gist, Kayden Childress, Jaycee Meadows, Joslyn Childress, Levi Childress, and Rylan Sturgeon. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Burns (Kevin Burns), Esther Williams, and Raquel Bates; her brothers, Jimmy Williams and John Bauer (Debbie Bauer); other family members and dear friends.

Josie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jasper Williams; her mother, Jean Bates; her father, Earl Moeller; her sisters, Glenna Williams and Marty Rice; and her brother, Leroy Bauer.

Josie will be remembered for her warm heart, contagious laugh, and for the way she made everyone around her feel loved and welcome. She found her greatest joy in her family and the memories they shared. Her legacy will continue through the love she poured into everyone she touched.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Butler County, 532 S. Second Street, Hamilton  (45011).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation,  beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

She will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
