Joseph David
Kennedy
March 2, 1978 – April 23, 2026
Joseph David Kennedy was born to Sharron L. Pope and Lawrence M. Kennedy, Sr. on March 2, 1978, in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of 12, Joseph gave his life to Jesus Christ at Bethel Baptist Church on Alms Place in Walnut Hills - a decision that would anchor him throughout his life.
Even as a young man, Joseph's gifts were undeniable. At just ten years old, he took apart his mother Sharron's clock, determined to repair it. His mother told him to put it back together - and to her amazement, he did, and it worked perfectly. In that moment, she knew without a doubt that her son's hands were made for greatness.
At sixteen, before even graduating from Withrow High School, Joseph was hired at Meineke Muffler on Reading Road, owned by Cedric Newberry. Mr Newberry considered Joe one of his finest mechanics, noting that Joe simply would not leave a job unfinished. He did not give up. After graduation, Joseph pursued his passion further, attending mechanics school in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Answering the call to serve his country, Joseph joined the United States Marine Corps. His unit was among the first troops to enter Baghdad. Joseph was recognized with a certificate for his exceptional gunnery skills and his ability to repair tanks under pressure - a testament to both his courage and his craftsmanship.
After his military service, Joseph spent several years in California before returning home to Cincinnati permanently in 2019. He returned to doing what he loved most, working at Meineke until earlier this year.
Joseph David Kennedy was a man of faith, discipline, and extraordinary skill. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Sharron Pope; stepfather, Al Pope; brothers, Steven Kennedy, William Pope, and Derrick Davis; sister, Latonya Sheldon Pope; and a cherished host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
