Obituary

Johnnie Fredrick Pugh, II, was born on Friday, November 18th, 1960, in Georgiana, Alabama.  He was the son of the late Rev. Johnnie Pugh, Sr., and Verbie Pugh, the youngest of four children. On Saturday, May 17th, 2025, he made his triumphant transition to glory. We say that he has departed, but God says that he has arrived.

At an early age, he gave his life to the Lord. He attended Georgiana Public Schools and graduated in 1979. He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1989 and met Melanie Barksdale in 1991. Melanie and Johnnie were soon married in 1992 and remained happily married for 33 years.

Johnnie enjoyed riding motorcycles. In 1993, he joined the Posse Motorcycle Club and was soon elected president of the Cincinnati Chapter. In addition to motorcycles, Johnnie enjoyed deejaying and traveling with his wife.

Johnnie was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and humorous personality, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him. Johnnie was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Alabama State University Hornets, and the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). He found comfort and joy in the simple moments he spent watching sports with family and friends, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time and taking care of his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Johnnie Pugh, Sr. and Verbie Pugh; brother, Clint Pugh, Sr.; father and mother-in-law, Thomas (Betty) Barksdale; and brother-in-law, Melvin Barksdale. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Pugh; sons, Curtis Caldwell and  Tre Caldwell; brother, Patrick Pugh, Sr.; sisters, Marilyn (Hillary) King and Patricia Anderson; special niece, Bethany Hargrove; brothers-in-law, Michael (Nicole), Marcus (Chontea), and Marlon Barksdale; and a host of family and friends.
