IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Floyd
Williams
September 12, 1954 – October 15, 2025
John F. Williams, son of the late Willie James and Rosa Williams, was born on September 12, 1954, in Pearson, Atkinson County, Georgia. At an early age, he lost his beloved mother. John was the youngest boy and the fourth of six children. His father, along with the love and support of John's maternal family, helped nurture him through his childhood and into adulthood.
John attended Atkinson County High School and quickly entered the workforce. Throughout his years in Georgia, he worked several jobs, including positions at Springville Mobile Homes and Eagle Trace, as well as cropping tobacco.
As John matured, he became affectionately known as "Suga John." The nickname was given to him by his brother, Jimmie Williams, because John was always sharply dressed—often changing clothes two to three times a day. John had a special love for children, and they adored him in return. Whenever there was music playing, you could count on Suga John to hit the dance floor—his moves were unforgettable.
In 1997, Suga John decided to move north to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he joined his sister, brother, and other family members. He was soon employed by Charles F. Shiels & Co., where he worked faithfully until his retirement in September 2024. During his time in Cincinnati, John met Nannie Moorman, and the two were united in holy matrimony in 2001.
John had a heart of gold. He never met a stranger and always left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. In 2024, he was diagnosed with an illness, which he faced with great courage and faith. Even through the pain, Suga John's vibrant personality never faded. He was known for his many sayings—one of his favorites being, "I'm from Missouri… you gone have to show me!" In his own way, he showed everyone how to be both strong and sweet.
In October 2025, John peacefully succumbed to his illness, with his devoted wife and niece, Danielle Jackson, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings; his mother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
John leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Nannie L. Williams; one loving sister, Joyce Williams of Nicholls, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Judy Isaacs of San Jose, California, and Tina Williams of Pearson, Georgia; eight beloved nieces and nephews; one dear friend, Mark Ashley of Cincinnati, Ohio; and host of cousins, extended family, and many friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
