It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Lawrence Thompson, who departed this life on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at the age of 83, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on January 26th, 1942, to John and Louise Thompson.  John spent his early years growing up in Avondale, Cincinnati, and later resided in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, enriching his life with diverse experiences. John was a devoted Muslim whose faith was a guiding light throughout his life. He found joy and purpose in his passions, which included a lifelong love for working on cars as a mechanic, a deep appreciation for art, an affinity for music, and the quiet pleasure of reading books. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John James Thompson and Louise Dorsey, and one brother. John is survived by his cherished wife, Lillie Mae Thompson. He was a loving father to his children: John Larry Thompson (his oldest son), Patricia Ann Thompson (John Larry's twin sister), Ethan Tyrone Thompson, Lamont Aaron Thompson, Van Ness Thompson, and Quentin Bristol Thompson. His legacy continues through his 9 grandchildren, including Candice, Dominique, Jamal, Jamilla, Sadie, Ryan, and Jimmise; as well as his 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. John will also be deeply missed by his dear friends, Michael and Cora, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, on  Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy  (45231).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly at the funeral home through Walker Funeral Home.
