John Lee Gatewood was born October 6, 1962 to Catherine Gatewood-Harris and John Williams. John attended church and accepted Christ as his Savior. John graduated from Aiken High School in 1982. He met his wife Cynthia Shields in 1979 and they later married in June 1991. John was skillful and held various job positions. Red Squirrel was John's last job in which he enjoyed. John loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing chess, cards, shooting pool and fishing. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the casino as well. He is preceded in death by father John Williams, stepfather, Lucky Harris; sister, Julia Ann Gatewood and niece Kristal Gatewood. He leaves to cherish loving memories: his devoted wife, Cynthia Gatewood; his six children, John Shields, Joseph Gatewood, Isaiah Gatewood, Paul Gatewood, Martina Gatewood, Jalisa Phoenix; his sisters, Johanna Gatewood, Christine Gatewood, and Viola Harris; 10 grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. John Lee Gatewood, age 52, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born October 6, 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Walker - Walnut Hills Chapel , 1025 E. McMillan Street, Cincinnati (45206) with visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
